Thats it, I'm finally leaving GitHub. More specifically, I will only use it to contribute to projects that are only on GitHub. While this may seem strange, I'll explain myself.

Self-hosting made simple

I've written about self-hosting here, however I haven't covered how I went about hosting my apps, including this very site. I've gone through a couple of re-makes of this site and my hosting solution. From using a VM on DigitalOcean and installing Ghost CMS manually to running CapRover to deploy docker containers of apps I wanted to run. All of these require fiddling around with reverse-proxy settings. While I feel like I have a much better understanding of NGINX now, its still not something I want to mess around with. In comes Cloudron.

Deno is the future

I absolutely love Node.js, however it does irritate me from time to time. The ecosystem is cluttered and requires you to write Javascript in a way that seems counter-intuitive to those who code for the browser. Thankfully, our lord and saviour Ryan Dahl has brought us Deno, a fresh take on a backend JavaScript runtime.
